A Halloween Wedding At Gosfield Hall In Essex

When your wedding date falls on Halloween, whether by design or that's the only date your venue had available do you decide to go all out for a Halloween theme, completely ignore it or create a wonderful balance between the two ?

Having postponed during the pandemic Victoria and Leigh had had a significant amount of time and more to decide what they wanted and ended with a wonderful balance between the two.

Their venue was Gosfield Hall in Essex an elegant Georgian mansion set in the Essex countryside with parts of the building dating back to the 16th century and once used as a royal residence. Opulence and grandeur await you and your guests. We love working at this venue and if it wasn't for all our camera equipment we could pretty much walk here for a wedding or event.

The day started for Vicky and her bridal party in the Lady's Chambers Cottage having stayed the night before there were no last minute arrivals or panics, everyone was just excited to get the day off to a relaxed start. Even Noel (my husband) lent a hand at one point when two hands just weren't enough.

Later in the morning the bridal party moved across to the stunning Rococo Bridal Suite through back staircases to avoid being seen by any guests or the grooms party. The staff at Gosfield Hall have this planned perfectly every time. Our bride and her party didn't even have to set foot outdoors so there were no worries about the weather causing any problems. Any bride will feel like royalty finishing their preparations in these beautiful rooms.

The groom meanwhile, along with his best men and ushers was getting ready in one of the well appointed bedrooms elsewhere in the mansion.

The guests gathered in the warm and cosy library.

Whilst Leigh had some photos with his best men and ushers

With two of us photographing your wedding day, we can be in two places at the same time. So whilst Noel was photographing the groom and his party, Helen was hidden away upstairs photographing the bridal party. So much easier for us and our couples with no rushing around from one location to another to get everything done.

The ceremony took place in the ornately wood-panelled Queen Charlotte's Gallery. Being 120 feet long your guests have more than enough time to see and admire your dress as you make your way to the front where your partner awaits you.

The main drinks reception took place in the Grand Salon, with some guests spreading out into the comfort of the library once again. In between showers we got everyone outside very quickly for the full group photo and even managed a brief picture of the rainbow that appeared.

It was then time for Vicky & Leigh to greet their guests at the top of the Grand Staircase before making their way through to the Ballroom which had been decorated with touches of Halloween. Beautiful centre pieces in pumpkins together with witches brew favours and special favours for all the younger guests to enjoy.

The speeches were hilarious and full of fun, love and laughter for everyone.

Before dessert was brought out, Vicky and Leigh led all the younger guests downstairs to The Snug which had been decorated especially for Halloween for a little spot of trick or treat and a wonderful array of sweet treats......many an older guest was seen sneaking in there later on for a little childhood nostalgia with all the sweets.

Cutting the cake is always a highly anticipated event, specially when it is an Halloween work of art. The bottom of the grand staircase is a favourite for this at Gosfield Hall allowing all the guests to line up down the stairs for a good view.

Some quick, relaxed family portraits followed in this area whilst everyone was together and having fun.

Then it was time to get the party really started with the couples first dance, followed by Vicky dancing with her dad and father-in -law.

And, just time for a last couple of photos with the happy couple before our time was over for the day.
